Glenormiston Ballymalloe

2002 grey mare (Castle Baron x Glenormiston Ballycara by Domo Cavallo Praize)

PEDIGREE

After quickly realising what an amazing pony we had in Killian we then purchased his full sister Glenormiston Ballymalloe and broke her in here at home. A truly amazing mare who has bonded with Ashley right from the very beginning and they have formed a formidable team. Initially we thought that she would be way too much ‘horse’ for a little girl as at almost 15hh she is a very powerful mare but again the Connemara temperament shone through and even as a young horse she came right back to her then 9 year old rider.

Just like her full brother, ‘Bally’ has excelled at both Showjumping and Eventing as well as the Working Hunter classes.

Ashley and Bally walked into their first ‘show ring’ together in 2012 at the Hawkesbury Agricultural Show and took out the blue ribbon in the Novice Working Hunter Trial and then immediately placed 2nd in the Intermediate division by only 1 point. Ash and Bally also competed at the 2012 State Pony Club Jumping Equitation Championships followed by a very successful trip to the Connemara Pony Showcase in Victoria in September and finished the year taking out the Hi Point Purebred Connemara award at the Scone Showjumping Club's Working Hunter Trials in November!

2013 was an amazing year for the combination, they graded up to B Grade Pony Club Showjumping and Preliminary EA Eventing with many successes along the way. They have jumped 1.20m at the Cudgegong Jump Club competition in February, a huge feat considering Ashley was all of 12 years old at the time, and have thrown in the odd sporting day just to mix things up! The pinnacle of their year was winning the NSW State Title Under Saddle in the CPBSA Performance Awards! Glenormiston Ballymalloe has now been retired to the broodmare band and is currently in foal to a Holsteiner stallion, himself a son of the Leading Sire of Eventers worldwide! Stay tuned, it could be very exciting ...
