2013 NSW State Interschool Championships

Ashley and Glenormiston Ballymalloe have just returned from representing their school admirably at the 2013 NSW State Interschools Championships held at the Olympic Venue at SIEC, in the Intermediate Introductory Level of Eventing.

We left home at 2.30am arriving at SIEC to a day threatening rain and headed straight into the dressage arena as 2nd rider out. After what was a pretty nice test Ashley and Bally were placed 25th in a field of 39 riders. Dressage is certainly not their strongest phase but is certainly improving all the time. The showjumping was next and the combination turned in a faultless round to finish clear and on time. This elevated them to 22nd placing, still a long way from the top ...

After having to stand on the float following a huge downpour Ashley and Bally headed out to the Cross Country course to complete their competition for the day. Again they put in an amazing round finishing clear and with 17 seconds to spare on a course that covered almost 2.5km with an optimum time of 6 minutes. Brooke Allan commented that 'Bally was flying' and Ash managed her perfectly wth the combination riding themselves into 13th position. A brilliant effort considering they were the babies of the 39 competitors. Onwards and upwards, just need to work on that dreaded dressage ...
