Asham Connemaras & Sporthorses are proud of the reputation we have developed in breeding exceptional ponies with both temperament and talent. Our policy of being 100% honest with our clients has led to a dedicated buying bench of repeat clients, with a huge number of personal referrals. You will often find that most of our stock are sold prior to ever being advertised.
Our Connemara journey began in 2005 when we went in search of a Connemara pony to ride on for our children, who were then five and seven years old. Having had a Connemara pony as a child myself, I never forgot the versatility or the amazing temperament of the breed. We searched high and low and soon discovered that a purebred Connemara pony was not an easy thing to find. As luck would have it, we were introduced to Sue Clarke at Glenormiston Connemaras, and the rest is history.
Asham Connemaras & Sporthorses was founded! The name ‘Asham’ comes from an amalgamation of our two children’s names, Ashley and Sam who are both an integral part of the business, alongside myself and my husband Jonathan. We bred our first purebred Connemara in 2008, however, our family have been involved with horses for many generations in both Thoroughbreds and Stockhorses, and the progression to horses for the Olympic disciplines came with the Connemaras.
We are based on our home property ‘Pine Lodge’ in the heart of the horse capital of Scone, NSW. Currently our ‘Asham’ horses are in every state of Australia except WA, ranging from kid’s ponies and breeding stock to highly competitive Sporthorses. Our aim is to produce quality, sound horses and ponies that meet the expectations for which they are purchased. Proven bloodlines and performance, alongside years of equine knowledge and experience, backed up by 100% honesty in all our dealings with our clients, has led to a very solid reputation of which we are very proud.
We believe we offer a very unique and personalised experience for clients, with every detail of paramount importance. We offer different options for purchase including breaking in or ongoing training if required and assistance with organizing insurance and transport. We update clients continually with photographs and videos of their horses and encourage ongoing communication to optimize the experience.
Both Ashley and Sam are very accomplished riders in many different fields, as is Jonathan, and so we are very well placed to offer quality horses with optimum handling and education.
