Glenormiston Slieveroe

2006 Bay Gelding (Castle Baron x Glenormiston Scarteen by Oxenholm Gideon)

Height: 14.2hh

Registration: #3046

We purchased the weanling colt Glenormiston Slieveroe from Sue Clarke with all intentions of growing him out and standing him as a future stallion. Those plans changed when the opportunity arose to purchase Glenormiston Bartley and so we gelded ‘Sly’ and he duly matured into yet another superstar pony sired by Castle Baron.

Sly was broken in here at home and saw his first outing at Pony Club on a rally day when he was introduced to the Cross Country course. Absolutely nothing phased him from the water jump to the kangaroos that appeared on course in the late afternoon! His first competition was at our local Showjumping Championships where he graduated from 24 faults in the first round to the blue ribbon by the afternoon!

Sly quickly progressed through the levels in the Showjumping world excelling both at Pony Club and EA Level. For a 14.2hh pony he has a huge jump and Sam competed him up to 1m with ease. When we introduced him to the world of eventing he yet again took everything in his stride. He followed in the footsteps of Gl Ballymalloe taking out the Hi Point Purebred Connemara award within the Working Hunter division at the Scone Showjumping Club competition and he also came home with the win at the Denman Pony Club ODE at only his third eventing start. To ice the cake Sam and Sly won the trophy for the combination with the lowest penalty points of all competitors!

Glenormiston Slievereo was one of the ponies to showcase the Connemara breed at the Equitana 2013 Exhibition in Sydney and has competed in almost every discipline imaginable. From Stockman’s Challenges to sporting, Eventing to Showjumping, pleasure riding and mustering. A more versatile pony would be hard to find. Sly now resides with his young event rider in the Southern Highlands of NSW.
